Save the date, big things are coming!

Next week, on Tuesday, 10 February, we will officially announce the teams qualified by Nations Ranking for the SSL Gold Cup Brazil 2026, to be held in Rio de Janeiro.

The Asian teams already qualified through the SSL Global Ranking are: China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, India, and Japan.

On Tuesday, we will also announce:

  • 12 teams from Europe,
  • 1 team from Africa,
  • 2 teams from Oceania.
  • 7 teams from Pan America

How does qualification by ranking work?

Teams qualify for the SSL Gold Cup based on the SSL Global Ranking system. Each national team’s score is calculated by combining the ranking positions of the top 5 skippers from that nation and the ranking positions of the top 2 crew members from that nation. The sum of these global ranking positions determines the final points total, which decides qualification.

The 2nd “Football World Cup… in Sailing” (SSL Gold Cup) will take place from 18 November to 13 December 2026, once again bringing together the world’s best sailing nations on the sport’s biggest stage.
