The SSL Men’s Ranking shows who is leading in sailing. At the top of the list is Diego Botín from Spain with 6,986 points. He is the Olympic champion from Paris in the 49er class and the most successful sailor of this season. Botín also won the World Championship in 2025 and took a bronze medal at the 2024 World Championship. In addition, he won two of the biggest SailGP events of the year: the New York Sail Grand Prix and the San Francisco Sail Grand Prix in 2025.
His numbers show how strong he is. He has finished on the podium 48 times in 104 events. Almost half of his starts ended with a medal, which gives him a medal rate of 46 percent. On average, he scores 427 points in every event, making him the most consistent sailor in the ranking.
In second place is another Spaniard, Jordi Xammar, with 6,750 points. Xammar is one of the best sailors in the 470 class. He won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games and finished fourth at the Paris Olympics. He is also very strong at the world level, winning the World Championship twice in a row in 2024 and 2025. On top of that, he became European champion in both of those years, which shows his long-term stability and high level.
Third in the ranking is John Gimson from Great Britain with 6,625 points. Gimson sails in the Nacra 17 class and had a great 2025 season, winning both the World Championship and the European Championship. He also has Olympic success, with a silver medal from Tokyo and a fourth place in Paris.
Together, these three sailors define men’s sailing. Botín leads with Olympic gold and many top wins, Xammar follows with world and European titles, and Gimson completes the podium with a strong championship.
